For over 30 years, ACCS-VA, the Association of Collegiate Computing Services of Virginia, has held an annual conference for information technology professionals from universities and colleges in Virginia.
For two and a half days, attendees are able to foster relationships and share knowledge on their experiences to improve the information technology field in higher education across the Commonwealth.
This year’s theme, “Through the Looking Glass,” focused on curiosity, connection, and collaboration. Our very own Teresa Gibbons, ITS Support Center Manager, sits on the ACCS-VA board and even helped decide the theme.
ITS had a number of participants make the trip to Portsmouth not just to attend but to present! Our topics ranged from communicating in IT to service metrics fostering decisions for classroom AV to deciding and documenting cybersecurity frameworks.
After the conference, our folks returned to Mason excited to share what they learned and ready to make a positive impact on the community. Specifically, the ACCS-VA experience provided refreshing ideas and perspectives for our top focus areas of IT Governance, IT Security framework, and continuous improvement.
