Power Your Business & Research with Colocation

Did you know that ITS offers both physical and virtual colocation services to the Mason community? These services are available to the Mason researchers and departments that require a secure and stable computing environment.

The Aquia Data Center on the Fairfax Campus has both physical and virtual server colocation services in a secure, temperature-controlled, operating environment. These services provide higher reliability and uptime, greater flexibility and scalability, and increased security while allowing users to retain autonomy.

The colocated VMWare Virtual Infrastructure was developed to provide high uptime, redundancy and a structured and secure clustered virtual environment. This hosting solution eliminates the need for owning and managing physical server and infrastructure assets. If using a physical server (or both) is preferred, the Data Center on the first floor of the Aquia building is dedicated to hosting safe and secure environments.

The Facilities & Infrastructure Operations Team (physical colocation) and the Cloud, Compute & Storage Operations Team (virtual colocation) in ITS work with users to develop optimal colocation solutions for their business and research needs. Personnel is on site at the Aquia Data Center 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Controlling access to your data, practicing proactive server maintenance, ensuring accountability, and adhering to the information integrity of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) can be essential to departmental or research success. By leveraging the power of colocation, users are able to optimize their work and time here at Mason.

To receive these services, submit a service request to set up colocated systems in the Aquia Data Center. (Please note, chargebacks may apply.)
