The Canvas learning management system (LMS) will be limited to specific academic and/or instructional purposes. These can be categorized in the following ways:
- Instructional Uses:
- Development and storage of instructional content used in traditional courses/programs listed in the academic catalog and/or scheduled through Banner. This includes content shared by faculty for instruction.
- Provide program or degree resources for students, such as student cohort sites, student demographic sites, and student portfolios.
- Student Onboarding & Training:
- Deliver content and training related to academic integrity, student safety, University policies, student development, etc.
- Student testing such as onboarding, placement, and other tests
- Instructional Technology Training:
- Deliver training for instructional technologies such as Canvas, Kaltura, Honorlock, Gradescope, etc.
- Provide role-based training related to instructional or academic purposes such as Canvas admin and support training, academic process/procedure training, etc.
- Model training and resources for the teaching community on best practices for pedagogy and course design in Canvas
Uses that do not directly serve or support an academic and/or instructional purpose as outlined will not be permitted on Canvas. Including:
- Project management, committee work, and/or other administrative purposes.
- Repositories for or the distribution of non-academic/non-instructional content.
- Communications unrelated to academics or instruction.
- Training/content related to non-instructional technologies.
- Training/content related to administrative purposes targeting only staff and/or faculty.
