GMU-TV is a professional, full-service video production facility that specializes in creating educational content, research and scholarship communications, and marketing and outreach videos to support the academic and administrative departments of George Mason University.

GMU-TV's state-of-the-art facilities include two HD studios, a portable HD studio to record live events at Mason, a fleet of HD cameras, and full post-production facilities where the polished edit, graphics, animation, and even music can be created for your projects.

Academic Content
GMU-TV develops educational content for both online and on-campus courses. Whether an entire course taught via video, a single lecture, or simply supplemental video material in class is needed, GMU-TV can help. Working with the Stearns Center for Teaching and Learning, GMU-TV has access to professional instructional designers who can help faculty transition their courses from the classroom to the digital realm. GMU-TV can help develop media-rich teaching tools for every discipline, from traditional lectures to visualizations of complex procedures or simulations, instruction on specific software, or interviews with visiting scholars. Through live broadcast, webcast, or fibercast, GMU-TV delivers both synchronous and asynchronous courses.

Promotion of Research and Mason's Thought Leaders
Many of GMU-TV's original productions highlight the amazing research and developments in higher education at Mason. GMU-TV explores a broad spectrum of subjects to a general audience, including science, technology, engineering, math, health and medicine, public affairs, humanities, arts and music, and education issues; programming that brings to life the tremendous range of knowledge, culture, and dialogue generated on Mason's diverse campuses. These programs range from short-form documentaries to distinguished guest lecturers and panel discussions, cutting-edge research symposiums, research communications, artistic performances, and more. GMU-TV helps produce scripted material and recording/broadcasting live events at Mason that appeal to the larger community.

Getting This Service

Faculty members/departments interested in developing video material should complete a Production Proposal. All relevant stakeholders should be involved in completing the proposal. See How Do I Get Started for information about GMU-TV's procedures and to download the Production Proposal. Please submit completed proposals and a brief email summarizing your request to gmutv@gmu.edu.

Availability

Depending on the scope of the project, video proposals may require signatures by both requesting faculty/staff and the department chair or appropriate dean/director.

The number of proposals accepted for production varies according to the production resources available.
