Typically, when attributes are displayed on a Grid report, only the attribute name appears in the header. This is also true for attributes displaying on a grid visualization within a dossier. However, in addition to displaying the attribute name, you can also display the name of each attribute form.
Using Stu Level as an example, you see both the ID form and DESC form are displaying under one header showing the attribute name. If you export this report to Excel, each attribute form will be in a separate column but they still share one merged column header. This can make additional Excel manipulations more difficult.
Stu Level | |
---|---|
GR | Graduate |
UG | Undergraduate |
Displaying the attribute form names resolves this problem because it unmerges the column header.
Stu Level ID | Stu Level DESC |
---|---|
GR | Graduate |
UG | Undergraduate |
Displaying the attribute form names resolves this problem because it unmerges the column header.

How to Display Attribute Form Names in a Grid Visualization of a Dossier
Step 1
Right-click the attribute header (the name of the attribute) and select Display Attribute Forms.
Step 2
On the Display attribute form names drop-down, select On. Click OK to apply your changes
IMPORTANT
When using the On option as shown above, be aware of the following:
- The form names display along with the attribute name.
- Every attribute on the report is changed to include the attribute form names.
- Instead, if you select Automatic, only the selected attribute displays its form names, and only if the attribute is set to display more than one form.
- Selecting Form name only displays only the attribute form names without the attribute name. It also affects every attribute on the report. As this makes the report difficult to understand, we do not recommend this option.
