Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2023

Happy Cybersecurity Awareness Month! It’s October, which means Information Technology Services (ITS) will host events highlighting the importance of online safety and security. This year’s theme is Secure Our World to remind computer users of the simple steps they can take to protect themselves online.

Activities planned for this month are designed to help the Mason community do its part in reaching that goal.

On Tuesday, October 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., join the IT Security Office team for cybersecurity trivia in the Johnson Center at Kiosk G. Prizes will be awarded for correctly answering cybersecurity-related questions.

On Thursday, October 12, at 3 p.m.in Johnson Center Room C, join a panel discussion with professors Paulo Costa, Peggy Brouse, and James Jones from Mason’s Department of Cyber Security Engineering who will present their areas of research and how it impacts cybersecurity.

ITS will close out its observation of Cybersecurity Awareness Month on Thursday, October 26, from 1 to 3 p.m., with an Ask Me Anything (AMA) Reddit thread. Staff and interns from the IT Security Office will be available to answer questions and offer advice about cybersecurity: https://www.reddit.com/r/gmu/
