Users were unable to connect to the wireless network.

Impact to Mason: 

Faculty, staff, and students at the Democracy Lane site would not use wireless internet.

ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS
Cause: 

Following the scheduled code upgrade on the Democracy Lane router, the local DHCP configuration for the wireless network failed preventing wireless access points from renewing their DHCP leases.

Resolution: 

DHCP was moved from using a local DHCP pool on the router to using a pool on the DHCP server.

Prevention: 

We determined that 3 other remote sites are using local DHCP pools for the wireless network. We are in the process of assigning new IP spaces on the DHCP servers and moving over the remaining 3 networks.
