NEW: Metadata Reference Dossier
May 2021
The Business Intelligence Services team has created a dashboard that will help users identify all available data elements in the Academic project. Data elements are grouped by type, either attributes (descriptive data) or metrics (measures). Users will be able to browse and search for metrics and attributes by name and category. Furthermore, users will be able to see the descriptions of the metrics and attributes. The Long Description will provide additional information about the attributes and metrics in the Academic project. This dashboard was designed to help MicroStrategy users better understand the attributes and metrics used in their reports. The BIS team continues to work with subject matter experts from across the University to complete and improve this resource.

NEW: UG Student Change Major Dashboard
May 2021
This dashboard shows Undergraduate students' Primary Major changes by Application Major or Degree Major from the Admit Term through Degree Term. The data includes the count of active students per term, grouped by their Primary Major 1. This dashboard contains 3 chapters titled:
- Application Major Analysis
- Based on the selected Admit Term, Application College, and Application Major, this visualization shows the student’s progression from the term they applied to the term they earned a degree. The Sankey diagram shows changes to a student’s Primary Major between the fall terms, from the selected admit term through the following seven fall terms. The same information is shown in the form of text in the grid below the visualization.
- Degree Major Analysis
- Based on the selected Admit Term, Degree Term, Awarded Degree College, and Awarded Degree College Major 1, this visualization shows the Primary Major progression from the Term they applied to a Major to the Term they earned a Degree. Like the Application Major Analysis chapter, the Primary Major progression is shown for the Fall terms from the selected Admit term through the following seven Fall Terms. The same information is shown in the form of text in the grid below the visualization.
- Dashboard Help
- This is a help section that contains information about each chapter and how to use the dashboard. This Dashboard shows only Undergraduate student data and will always contain the last 10 years of data, including current year data. For example, if we are in 2020, we will have data from 2010 to 2020.

Budget Incentive Model Reference Reports
Budget Incentive Model reports contain groupings, filter logic, and element values that are specific to the Budget Incentive Model business rules and calculations. Therefore, BIS has created these reference reports that show these values so that users are able to better understand how they are derived and how they relate to other data elements.
-
Budget Level
This report shows how the Budget Level attribute is derived from a combination of Student Level and Student Primary Degree Level. As of March 2021, the Budget Level is used on the following Budget Incentive Model reports:
- Allocations
- Credit Window LAW
- Credit Window UG
- FY Tuition Detail for Course College
- FY Tuition Summary by College
- FY Tuition Detail for Stu Major College
-
Priority Date
This report shows the calendar date on which the Unrestricted Withdrawal period begins in each term. The number of registered credit hours on this day is used in all Budget Incentive Model calculations. You can see this in each report’s description. The report description is located below the title of the report. Below is an example.

ENHANCEMENT: Missing Grades Report
May 2021
The missing grades report previously included a filter that excluded Wiley courses. This Wiley filter inadvertently excluded courses whose campus was MOL (Mason Online). We have removed this filter and now the Missing Grades report shows results of missing grades in courses that are Wiley and courses whose campus is MOL.
