Where are my Kaltura Capture recordings stored on my computer?

When you record with Kaltura Capture (installed via Kaltura MyMedia >Add New >Kaltura Capture), your video files are saved locally on your computer. Here’s how to find them:

For Mac users

  • Open Finder and select Go >Go to Folder…

  • Enter:
    ~/Library/Preferences/Kaltura/Capture/

  • Open the Recordings folder to access your media.

Tip: If you're using Kaltura Capture version 4.2.122 or newer, you can also open the app, click Manage > Settings, and copy the “Current recording directory” path. Then paste it into Finder using Go to Folder.

For Windows users

  • Most likely, your recordings are in:
    C:\Users<your username>\AppData\Local\Kaltura\Capture\Recordings\

  • Or check the path directly in the Kaltura Capture app via Manage > Settings, then paste it into File Explorer.

Important Notes

  • The files are named with system-generated strings. Don’t rename or move them directly, you may break upload functionality. If you want to keep a copy, duplicate the file and edit the copy.

  • These files remain on your computer even after uploading. Delete them manually if you need to free disk space.
