Overview
Banner Admin is the administrative interface that allows authorized users to perform administrative duties within major functional areas, including Finance, Financial Aid, Human Resources, and Student Information. This is a closed system that allows access to authorized users with legitimate functional duties.
Patriot Web is a self-service site for students, faculty, and staff to manage their administrative records and accounts.
Banner Admin
Banner Admin is the administrative interface to Banner that allows authorized users to perform administrative duties within major functional areas including:

- Student Information
This is a closed system that allows access to authorized users with legitimate functional duties. Unauthorized use of this system and its material is strictly forbidden and may constitute a violation of state and/or federal law. This is unpublished material and contains confidential information. Unauthorized reproduction, distribution, display, disclosure, and/or possession of this information are strictly prohibited.
Back Office
Back office processing for the administration of the university including:
- Budgeting
- Purchasing
- Paying employees and vendors
- Processing student bills and refunds
- Awarding financial aid
- Entering employee information for new hires
- Producing tax forms (W2s, 1099s, etc.)
- Administering employee benefits
- Building course catalog, class schedules, registration time tickets
- Maintaining academic history and print transcripts
Faculty Staff Access
Users will need to take the necessary required training before accessing Banner applications, including the following:
- IT Security: IT Security Awareness Training (annual)
- Banner Admin Apps: Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Training
- IT Role Based Training: Highly Sensitive Data Custodian Training
- Electronic Personnel Access Forms (EPAF): EPAF Training
- Labor Distribution: Labor Distribution Training
The updated workflow will check training statuses, and assign , and restrict access until the training is complete. User action will only be required for new hires and during regular training renewals.

Students
- Check their registration status
- Register for, change, and drop classes
- Display their class schedule
- Check grades
- Order transcripts
- View account summaries and tax information
Employees
- Submit timesheets
- Review benefits information
- View and update tax forms
- View pay stubs, earnings history, and leave balances
- Update direct deposit allocations
Access to Patriot Web
Access to Patriot Web is automatically granted upon enrollment or employment by the university. A Mason NetID and Patriot Pass Password are required to log in. Password information is available at Strong Password.
Scheduled Maintenance
Every Sunday between 7:00 AM and 11:15 AM (U.S. Eastern Time Zone), the Banner system is not available due to maintenance.
Important Message
Duplicate G numbers
Banner Student has begun converting student data. This may have created some duplicate G numbers. If you see a second G number for an employee/student who is already in Banner, please notify your HR Generalist immediately. Do not initiate an Electronic Approval.
Also, please DO NOT delete or change the Alternate ID numbers that are the Student ID numbers.
If the Social Security Number is not there as an Alternate ID, please add it by selecting Record Insert. Do not replace the student ID alternate ID with the Social Security Number.
