Deploy ADFS services within MS Azure North & South-Central Regions
Impact of the change on users:
We are improving the reliability and availability of our sign-in services by enhancing how our identity systems are hosted and protected.
To support this, we are running our authentication service (Active Directory Federation Services, or ADFS) in secure Microsoft Azure data centers located in multiple U.S. regions. This geographic distribution ensures that if one location experiences an issue, sign-in services can continue operating without interruption.
We use a Microsoft Azure service called Azure Front Door to route authentication requests automatically to the healthiest available location. This allows seamless failover between regions and helps prevent service outages, all without requiring user action.
What this means for you:
- No change to how you sign in
- Improved reliability and uptime
- Faster recovery from regional outages
This work strengthens the resilience of our authentication infrastructure and helps ensure continued access to services even during unexpected disruptions.
Intermittent outages may occur during the maintenance period.
Reason for the change:
We need to be able to deploy services and to have failover in the US North and South Central regions in case the US-EAST region is impacted. (ID # 748065)
