Rolling Wi-Fi & Wired Network Outages Across All Campuses on August 2 and 3

On Monday, August 1, from 11:59 p.m. to Tuesday, August 2, 1:59 a.m. and Tuesday, August 2, from 11:59 p.m. to Wednesday, August 3, 1:59 a.m., there may be intermittent outages, typically 30 minutes each, of the Wi-Fi and wired networks at all Mason campuses and locations while Information Technology Services (ITS) conducts important maintenance. The service outages are necessary to upgrade to recommended switch code.

Impact on Users
During this maintenance, all Wi-Fi and wired networks may be intermittently unavailable. As a result, any service, application, or website hosted or authenticated at Mason campuses or locations, including voice-over-IP (VoIP), call center phones, and Microsoft Teams calling, may also experience brief outages that may impact users’ connectivity temporarily. Elevator phones in the following locations may be intermittently unavailable:

  • August 1 to 2 maintenance: Science & Technology Campus
  • August 2 to 3 maintenance: Fairfax Campus and the Potomac Science Center

Cell phone service will not be impacted. ResNet networks in the residence halls will be available; however, the following services may not be available in the residence halls: solstice pods, eduroam Wi-Fi, and key card access updates.

ITS staff will restore service as quickly as possible and appreciate your patience. If you have any questions or experience issues connecting to the Wi-Fi or wired networks after this maintenance, please contact the ITS Support Center at 703-993-8870 or support@gmu.edu.
