Vonage texting Issue
May 28, 2024 7:40 a.m.The client was given no notice that the send feature of this product was not working. They were only able to receive but not send or reply.
We tested the product at 4:30 Monday, May 20rh. This was when we first found that there was an issue. We notified Vonage and were waiting until the morning to see if it was fixed.
The users affected were only those utilizing the Vonage Text messaging app. They could only receive text messages but not send or reply.
On Friday, May 17th, I worked along with our Global Vonage CSM, in filling out the federal 10DLC registration, which allows you to continue using SMS for your external communication with customers. It was accepted and approved. If this was not done then the SMS text messaging feature would be turned off at 9:00 am Monday, May 20. Vonage told me we were good to go as they received an accepted and approved message. Unfortunately they were wrong as we tested at 4:30 that day and found that the send feature was not working.
Vonage had to work with the telecom service providers to update our registration in order for our service to sync. Verizon and Google Voice were onboard by Thursday afternoon. AT&T and T-Mobile became live Friday morning. We are uncertain about the rest of cellular service providers but they should be working now or shortly.
This is a one time registration and will not re-occur.
