Get Connected This Fall with eduroam and ResNet

Hello, Patriots!

With the start of the fall semester around the corner, we have some exciting changes to discuss about on-campus internet!

New Network in Residence Halls

Information Technology Services (ITS) acquired and installed ResNet, an improved wired and Wi-Fi system located in the residence halls (including some classrooms, offices, and other services located inside them).

Note: ResNet replaced MASON-SECURE for residents in the residence halls.

Get Started with ResNet

To get connected, get answers to FAQs, or get support, see gmu.apogee.us. You can also download the ResNet mobile app. Go to the Apple or Google store to download the app and type Apogee ResNet into the app search, or scan the QR code and go directly to the app store.

Mobile Mason is integrated with ResNet

ResNet serves as an “at home” experience with high-speed internet and 24/7 support, allowing individuals to connect up to 15 devices – including phones, gaming devices (we’re looking at you, PS5 and Xbox Series X), printers, Amazon Echos, and so much more!

In addition, ResNet even offers a mobile app that provides users notifications on Wi-Fi outages and updates, as well as quick access to support. To learn more about getting started with ResNet, watch this training video.

eduroam Replacing MASON-SECURE

Along with the exciting installment of ResNet, ITS is shifting how the Mason community will access the Wi-Fi network across campus. eduroam, a worldwide wireless access service that was developed for the international research and education community, replaces the MASON-SECURE W-Fi Network.

The purpose of this change is to simplify how students, faculty, and staff connect to the internet, as eduroam provides a continuous connection when moving from building to building on campus. Due to eduroam’s popularity in higher ed, it’s available on many college campuses worldwide. This means that once you are connected at Mason, you will be able to access eduroam at any other participating colleges such as The University of Virginia and Virginia Tech. Whether you’re visiting friends or attending a conference, you’ll have an instant Wi-Fi connection with eduroam.

Start Using eduroam Today

The eduroam Wi-Fi Network is currently available in all buildings on campus, and ITS encourages users to start connecting to it. ure.

ITS is eager to bring these improved experiences to the Mason community to keep us connected during this new era of hybrid learning and working.
