At Mason, all media uploaded to Kaltura MyMedia is automatically captioned using machine-based captioning. This process begins as soon as your video finishes uploading, and captions are typically ready within 30–60 minutes.
Machine captions are generated by automated speech recognition and may contain errors—especially with technical terms, names, or poor audio quality. You can edit captions yourself for accuracy, or request professional captions and audio descriptions from Mason’s Assistive Technology Initiative (ATI) Office.
