How to Upload Media to Canvas from Your Mobile Device

You can use your mobile device’s web browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.) to upload or record media directly into Kaltura MyMedia in Canvas.

Note: You do not need to install the old Kaltura Go app.

Option 1: Upload via Mobile Browser

1. Open your browser and log in to Canvas.
2. Tap Kaltura MyMedia in the global navigation menu.
3. Tap Add New > Media Upload.
4. Select Choose a file to upload and browse your phone’s photo/video library.
   • You may also record a new video/audio clip with your device’s camera or microphone and upload it.
5. Add a title, description, and tags.
6. Tap Save to finish. The media will process in Kaltura and appear in your My Media library.

Option 2: Submit to an Assignment or Discussion

You can also add videos directly when posting to an Assignment or Discussion:

1. In Canvas (using your mobile browser), open the Assignment or Discussion.
2. In the Rich Content Editor, tap the Kaltura Media icon).
3. Click Add New>Upload Media or select from your MyMedia library.

Notes

• The Canvas Student app can be used to access courses, but it has limited support for Kaltura MyMedia. For best results when uploading video, use a mobile web browser instead.
• Upload time depends on your internet connection and the size of the video. Stay on the page until the upload finishes and you either get the MyMedia green confirmation message or you see your video in the text editor field.
