Impact of the change on users:

Little to no impact is expected for current users and devices. However, during the maintenance period, no new devices (mydevices.gmu.edu) can be added nor guest wireless accounts can be created. Network authentication and authorization services will not be impacted.

Reason for change:

ITS is applying Identity Services Engine (ISE) patches to resolve issues and improve performance. ISE simplifies the delivery of consistent, highly secure access control across wired and wireless multivendor networks and remote VPN connections. (ID # 174524)

Impact of the change on users:
After maintenance is complete, you will need to use the Virtual Private Network (VPN) to access and edit your mason.gmu.edu content if you are not connected to the Mason wired or wireless network (i.e., non-Mason campus location). Downloads and instructions are available:

Viewing (HTTP/HTTPS) mason.gmu.edu websites, as well as anonymous FTP access, will not require VPN.

Reason for the change:
ITS is adding a layer of security to mason.gmu.edu content. (ID # 175376)

Impact of the change on users:

The following services and websites will be intermittently unavailable during the maintenance period:

• Course Detail Select Menu
• Mason Assessments Tracking System (MATS)
• Office of Budget and Planning
• Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness
• Online Course Evaluation System
• OSP website with associated services
• Research website
• Travel
• workshops.gmu.edu

Reason for the change:

ITS is applying security updates to the servers. (ID # 175703)

Impact of change on users:
ITS will be performing work on our network during the maintenance period; however, there should be no impact on access to the Internet and VPN or connection to the data center. If you have any issues after the maintenance period, please contact the ITS Support Center at 703-993-8870 or [email protected].

Reason for change:
ITS is configuring and deploying advanced virtual private LAN services (VPLS). (ID # 175133)

Impact of change on users:
The wireless and wired networks in the Public Safety Building (Police) and the HUB will be unavailable during the maintenance period.

If you have an emergency during this time, please contact Mason Police at 911 or 703-993-2810.

During the planned maintenance, the wired and wireless networks, as well as Mason phones will be intermittently unavailable in these buildings. Prior to the planned maintenance, please save all work that is network-dependent (i.e., files synced to OneDrive or saved to the M: shared drive) and plan accordingly for phone calls. Cell phone service will not be impacted.
