Elevator Phones Outage

Impact of the change on users:

All elevator phones on the Fairfax and Arlington Campuses will be intermittently unavailable on Sunday, March 10, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., while Information Technology Services (ITS) upgrades phone switches.

If you have an emergency while in an elevator during this time, please use a cell phone to contact Mason Police at 703-993-2810.

Should you experience any issues with elevator phones after this maintenance window or have other questions, contact the ITS Support Center at 703-993-8870 or [email protected].

Reason for the change:

ITS is upgrading switches. (ID # 173778)

Banner Admin, Patriot Web Self Service & Select Services Unavailable

EXTENDED MAINTENANCE

Impact of the change on users:

The following applications and services will be unavailable during the maintenance period:

  • 25Live
  • Banner Admin
  • Banner-related applications
  • password.gmu.edu
  • Patriot Web Self Service
  • Travel (submissions will be available but not approvals)
  • Workflow

Other applications and services depending on the above may either be unavailable or available to a limited degree.

Reason for change:

ITS is applying Banner quarterly upgrades to production servers. (ID # 173744)

Evisions Unavailable

Impact of the change on users:

Evisions will be unavailable during the maintenance period.

Reason for the change:

ITS is migrating Evisions to a new server. (ID # 174315)

DNS Server Maintenance

Impact of the change on users:

ITS will be upgrading DNS servers during the maintenance period. Only one DNS server will be worked on at any given time. Production DNS server will be upgraded at night, early morning, or weekends to minimize any possible impact. The server and services will be unavailable for a few minutes during the reboot. Properly configured DNS clients (i.e., more than one DNS server configured) will not be impacted.

Reason for the change:

ITS is upgrading the DNS servers to fix security issues. (ID # 173495)

Symantec Upgrade for Mason-owned Computers

Impact of the change on users:

All Mason-owned computers that are joined to MESA will be prompted to upgrade Symantec. Users will be allowed 3 deferrals before installation is automatic.

Reason for the change:

The Symantec upgrade is needed per the IT Security Office. (ID # 173307)
