What should I do if I suspect an IT security incident?

Mason faculty, staff, students, and alumni should Report an IT Security Incident to the IT Security Office. A suspected IT security incident should be reported immediately to allow for containment, mitigation, and remediation. IT security incidents include, but are not limited to:

  • Computer system intrusion
  • Denial of service attacks
  • Inappropriate use of computers and Mason networks
  • Interference with the intended use of IT resources and/or compromised user accounts
  • Unauthorized access to, or use of, systems, software, or data
  • Unauthorized changes to systems, software, or data
