Active faculty, staff, and students are eligible for a Mason-licensed Zoom account. Upon activating your account, faculty and staff are granted a Zoom Pro license, while students are granted a basic license with the option to request an upgraded account.
To use your Mason-licensed Zoom account, you must log in on the web at gmu.zoom.us/signin or on the desktop application carefully following these instructions.
Activating a Zoom license for the first time
If you do not have a Zoom account and want to activate your Mason-licensed Zoom account, log into Zoom via gmu.zoom.us/signin. This will require your NetID and Patriot Pass Password and automatically provision a Mason Zoom license.
See the Zoom service page for more information on the Mason Zoom license and activating your Zoom account.
Transitioning to the Mason license from an existing Zoom account
Prior to Switching
- Download any cloud recordings or reports you wish to retain from your current account.
- Log out of all Zoom sessions by going to zoom.us/profile and logging in. Select “Sign Me Out From All Devices” at the bottom of the page, then log out of the web session.
From a personal Zoom license
If you are a current Zoom user (who is NOT part of a group license), you have a Basic license, or you have a Pro license WITHOUT any Webinar or Large Meeting add-ons, go to gmu.zoom.us/signin to get the Mason license.
From a Pro License account with Webinar or Large Meetings add-ons
If you are a current Zoom user with a Pro license with either Webinar or Large Meetings, and no longer need access to the historical Webinar or Large meeting information, you can activate your Mason licensed account. After activating your Mason licensed account, you can request Webinar or Large Meeting access.
From a group license
If you are a current Pro user and part of a group license, you should discuss joining the Mason central license with the group's owner before activating your Mason-licensed Zoom account.
Additional Information
Users who wish to keep their current Large Meeting or Webinar licenses or those who are members of group licenses who wish to migrate into the Mason Zoom license, contact the Mason Enterprise Collaboration team to discuss how to proceed. Request support via the Zoom service catalog page.
