Cisco AnyConnect Upgrade for Mac (VPN)

Impact of the change on users:

In preparation for the Big Sur macOS release later this month, Cisco AnyConnect clients on Mac computers must be updated from the current version ( 4.9.01095 or earlier) to version 4.9.03047 in order to connect to the Virtual Private Network (VPN).

Both managed and unmanaged Macs running Cisco AnyConnect clients will auto-upgrade when trying to connect to the VPN—either when the client automatically tries to reconnect to a session or when users successfully log in to the Cisco AnyConnect client.

IMPORTANT: Prior to installation, please make sure to save any work in VPN-dependent applications. During installation, active VPN sessions will be terminated. Installation takes about a minute.

If you have any questions or you experience any issues accessing the VPN after this maintenance, please contact the ITS Support Center at 703-993-8870 or support@gmu.edu.

Reason for the change:

The current version of Cisco AnyConnect (version 4.9.01095 or earlier) is incompatible with Big Sur. (ID # 203854).
