macOS 14 Upgrade

EXTENDED MAINTENANCE

Impact of the change on users:

Users will see periodic pop-up reminders prompting them to upgrade their Mason-owned Mac devices to a supported version. These notifications will appear intermittently during the maintenance window.

This Mason-owned Mac is currently running macOS 14, which will no longer meet university support requirements for the upcoming fall semester. Please upgrade to a supported version of macOS before the start of the fall semester. If you need assistance, please contact ITS Support at 703-993-8870.

Users can continue working, but should plan time to complete the upgrade. When the upgrade is performed, the device may restart and be temporarily unavailable.

IMPORTANT:

ITS requires all George Mason–owned Apple devices—and any Apple devices purchased from non-approved vendors—to be enrolled.

Enrollment ensures you receive full support, timely security updates, and a seamless user experience. Getting started is easy—simply submit a ticket, and our team will guide you through every step of the process.

Reason for the change:
Information Technology Services (ITS) is implementing configuration updates to send reminder notifications to users with devices that must be upgraded before the Fall semester. This helps ensure devices remain supported, secure, and compatible with university systems.
