Mason-Managed Windows Computers: Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise Upgrade

Impact of the change on users:

Beginning Thursday, March 12, ITS will upgrade Microsoft Office on Mason‑managed Windows computers to Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise to enable access to Microsoft 365 AI capabilities (such as Copilot Chat) across Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other productivity tools. Online Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise will remain available during the upgrade. Users have up to 180 deferrals to install.

Reason for the change:

ITS is upgrading to Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise on Mason-Managed Windows Computers to enable access to newer features, including Microsoft 365 AI capabilities (e.g., Copilot Chat) across Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other productivity tools, and to align functionality across platforms.

Impact of the change on users:

25Live, MicroStrategy, and Patriot Drive will be unavailable during the maintenance window while the servers reboot. Users should save their work and avoid performing critical tasks during the maintenance period.

Reason for the change:

Our current log and monitoring tool, which is expiring at the end of the month, is being replaced with a new log management platform. This change will allow us to continue monitoring and supporting our systems while managing costs and improving our logging platform.
