Wi‑Fi, Wired Network, VPN, and VoIP Phone Service Interruption at All George Mason Campuses & Locations

EXTENDED MAINTENANCE

Impact of the change on users:

Wi‑Fi, wired network connections, Virtual Private Network (VPN), and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone services will be intermittently unavailable across George Mason campuses and locations.

Users may experience multiple brief interruptions, each lasting less than 3 minutes, during the maintenance window. Phone calls and VPN sessions will drop briefly but should reconnect automatically.

Reason for the change:

ITS is applying vendor-provided security updates to address a known vulnerability and ensure continued reliability and protection of network services.

Impact of the change on users:

Users may experience brief, intermittent interruptions to software deployment (SCCM) and software licensing services. Each interruption is expected to last approximately 10–15 minutes while systems restart.

ITS is performing routine monthly patching to keep systems secure, stable, and up to date under standard maintenance procedures.

EXTENDED MAINTENANCE

Impact of the change on users:
During this maintenance window, multiple web applications will be temporarily unavailable. Each site is expected to be down for approximately 45 minutes within the maintenance window.

  • Users may experience errors or be unable to access sites.
  • Editors should save work in advance and avoid making updates during the window.
  • If a site is unavailable, please try again after about an hour.

25Live, MicroStrategy, and Patriot Drive will be unavailable during the maintenance window while the servers reboot. Users should save their work and avoid performing critical tasks during the maintenance period.
