ZOOM WEBSITE AND MEETINGS OFFLINE
April 21, 2025 6:51 a.m.Users were not able to access their Zoom accounts to set up meetings, join or delete. Complete access was denied.
Users were unable to connect to their scheduled meetings
Any GMU user that attempted to join, create or initiate a Zoom meeting during this time were affected. They were unable to engage Zoom on any level.
Per Zoom, on April 16, between 2:25 pm ET and 4:12 pm ET, the Zoom domain was not available due to a server block by GoDaddy Registry. This block was the result of a communication error between Zoom’s domain registrar, Markmonitor, and GoDaddy Registry, which resulted in GoDaddy Registry mistakenly shutting down the Zoom domain.
Zoom, Markmonitor and GoDaddy worked quickly to identify and remove the block, which restored service to the domain zoom.us. There was no product, security or network failure at Zoom during the outrage.
GoDaddy and Markmonitor are working together to prevent this from happening again.
