Power outage by Dominion Power caused a loss of network services: wired, wireless, and Voice over IP Phones. This also affected classrooms in the buildings listed above.
Initial symptoms:
Loss of wired, wireless, and voice over IP services as power was interrupted.

Impact to Mason:
Buildings listed above had no wired, wireless, or Voice over IP service until power was restored via Dominion or building generator and the routers were rebooted.

ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS
Cause:
Dominion Power outage which resulted in routers malfunctioning.
Resolution:
The routers were restarted once power was restored, by Dominion or generators being brought online.
Prevention:
Have engineers on-site to respond quickly to such incidents.
