At approximately 02:27PM, Innovation Hall experienced a network outage lasted roughly 10 minutes. ITS were able to identify and corrected the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the outage.

Loss of wired and wireless network connectivity

Impact to Mason: 

All users in Innovation Hall were without internet.

Affected Services: 
Wireless (Wi-Fi) Network, Telephone & Voice Mail Services, Banner Admin, Office 365 (Email for Employees), Virtual Private Network (VPN)
Other Affected Services: 
Wired Network, Websites, Windows-based servers and applications
ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS
Cause: 

Innovation Router crashed and the back-up took over.

Resolution: 

Traffic pushed to back-up router. NET is working with vendor to determine the cause of the crash.

Prevention: 

A dual fiber run is in the works for every switch on campus. Once it is 100% complete, the fail-over to the back-up router will be more graceful.
