SSH Secure Shell Client Removal from Managed Mason-owned Windows Computers

Impact of change on users:

Due to security issues, SSH Secure Shell Client will be removed from managed Mason-owned Windows computers. If you have the application open, it will close prior to removal. No restart is required.

PuTTY, a free implementation of SSH and Telnet for Windows and Unix platforms, along with an xterm terminal emulator, is replacing SSH Secure Shell Client. You may either install it from Software Center or may download Putty from the mason.gmu.edu server service page. Instructions on how to use PuTTY can be found at webdev.gmu.edu/uploading-files-with-putty/.

FileZilla, a free FTP solution for Windows and Mac that supports FTP, but also FTP over TLS (FTPS) and SFTP, is available for download from itservices.gmu.edu/downloads/. Instructions on how to use FileZilla may be found at webdev.gmu.edu/uploading-files-with-filezilla/.
