At Main Campus, Beacon Hall, and Smithsonian-Mason School of Conservation (SMSC), users may experience intermittent network connectivity interruptions. Individual interruptions may last up to approximately 45 minutes during the maintenance window.

The vendor is performing scheduled network maintenance to improve and maintain network services.

Pharos/Canon mobile printing, EHS Training (ehassistant.gmu.edu), and Card Access Security Office (CASO) services may be unavailable during the maintenance period.

ITS is applying Microsoft security updates.

Wi‑Fi Service Maintenance: Horizon & Vernon Smith Buildings

Impact of the change on users:

Users in the following buildings may experience intermittent Wi‑Fi connectivity interruptions during the maintenance window:

  • Horizon Building
  • Vernon Smith Building

Reason for the change:

ITS is performing a planned Wi‑Fi system upgrade to resolve known issues and provide improved functionality and features.

ClearPass Certificate Update

Impact of the change on users:

There will be no impact on WiFi services. But after it, users will need to manually reconnect to the campus Wi-Fi and accept the new security certificate the first time they connect. This is a one-time step required to restore Wi-Fi access.

Impact of the change on users:

There will be rolling outages, during which only one side of the network will be offline at a time. Only single-connected servers will be impacted.

Reason for the change:

Information Technology Services (ITS) is performing planned network infrastructure maintenance to install updated vendor-recommended software and restart network equipment to improve reliability, address known issues, and keep the environment current.
