Users will be unable to access Canvas (Learning Management System) for up to one hour during the maintenance window.

The vendor, Instructure, is performing maintenance to update their database infrastructure. This helps keep systems modern, reliable, and aligned with security and compliance standards.

Banner, Touchnet, Patriot Web, Reporting (MicroStrategy), Integrations & Related Services Maintenance

EXTENDED MAINTENANCE

Impact of the change on users:

During this maintenance window:

  • Banner applications will be unavailable
  • Patriot Web will be unavailable
  • Password Change site will be unavailable (password.gmu.edu)
  • Touchnet (production connection to Banner) will not work
  • Reporting (RPRT database / MicroStrategy reports) will not be accessible
  • Integrations, APIs, and Ellucian workflows will not function
  • Service accounts and system-to-system connections will not work
  • OIEP integration with the reporting database will not function
  • Jobsub, Appworx, and Clean Address will be unavailable temporarily and restored early for testing

Some Banner-related applications may return earlier than 12:30 p.m. for testing, but intermittent availability may occur until all systems are fully restored.

ITS (Information Technology Services) is moving systems into Microsoft Azure to improve reliability, scalability, and overall performance.

Imaging, Admin Apps, Finance Self Service, and API Integrations Maintenance

Impact of the change on users:

During this maintenance window:

  • Users will not be able to log in to Imaging
  • “Add” and “Retrieve” functions in Admin Apps will not work
  • Uploading documents through Finance Self Service will not be available
  • Documents cannot be submitted through automated integrations (API calls)
  • Documents sent through integrations during this time may not process correctly and will need to be manually handled after the maintenance window

After the maintenance is complete:

  • Some administrative functions—such as adding or modifying repositories or updating user permissions—will remain unavailable until a new system license is obtained
