ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS
Cause:

Systems engineers noted that NavigoP1, NavigoP2, VernaculusP1 and VernaculusP2 (application servers) were all swapping memory, and some processes were hung on these servers.

Resolution:

NavigoP1 and VernaculusP1 were removed from the load balancer pool.  They were then shutdown and memory added.  Shutting down the servers also cleared the hung processes.  After they were brought back up and added to the load balancer pool, similar changes were then made to the NavigoP2 and VernaculusP2 servers.

Prevention:

Memory usage can be monitored to look for an upward trend in usage so memory can be added proactively.
