ID | Data Quality Areas | Description |
---|---|---|
| Accuracy | The characteristic of data containing the correct values. This issue type indicates that the data is NOT accurate. |
| Ambiguous | The characteristic when the meaning of a word, phrase, or sentence is uncertain or a case in which two separate pieces of data have the same representation. This issue type indicates that the terms used to represent the data are NOT clearly understood. |
| Completeness | The characteristic of data not being fully populated with required data. Required fields in a record could potentially be left blank or assigned a null value, which leaves the record incomplete. This issue type indicates that the data are NOT complete. |
| Consistency | The characteristic of data being represented in one or more datasets and has values that are recognizably different from the correct values contained in the dataset(s). This issue type indicates that the data values are inconsistent. |
| Duplicate | The characteristic of two or more records containing the exact same data. This issue type indicates that data duplicates exist. (Note: This characteristic can be combined with uniqueness as all data in two or more the same with the exception of not having the same unique key value.)records can be |
| Missing | The characteristic of data that is not available within a dataset, but should be included. This issue type indicates that there is missing data. |
| Obsolete | The characteristic of data that is no longer in use, or outdated and has been superseded by new data. This issue type indicates that the data are NOT being used. |
| Relevancy | The characteristic of data being connected to other data within a record, dataset, or a database. This issue type indicates that the data are NOT relevant in the current context. |
| Timeliness | The characteristic of data being available or provided when it is required. This issue type indicates that the data are NOT available or provided when needed. |
| Transformation | The characteristic when data are changed to an appropriate form for a particular use. This issue type indicates that the data are NOT in the proper form when it reaches its destination. |
| Uniqueness | The characteristic where a data value is assigned to only one record to identify the record and can only be one of a kind and not duplicated for any other record. This issue type indicates that there are duplicate key values. |
| Valid | The characteristic of the data value being reasonable within its context. This issue type indicates that the data are invalid. |
