Service Summary
The Patriot Drive on-premise storage is part of the university’s departmental shared storage system. Network File Storage space is allocated to Mason departments to store and share files - primarily to facilitate Access databases and automated file transfers. Mason departments can request new Patriot Drive department shares that can be accessed by multiple Mason personnel. These are backed up daily. There are several levels of access for Patriot Drive shares.
Group Admin/ Technical Point of Contact (TPOC)
- Can view all AD groups and group memberships
- Can add and remove users from AD groups (i.e., staff, service accounts, etc.)
- Can read or modify share content
- Can request new shares via TDX tickets
- Can request to delete shares via TDX tickets
- Can request to modify share quotas via TDX tickets (additional storage is limited to 10% increase per share per week.)
- Can request share content restores via TDX tickets
- Must audit Patriot Drive shares once a year
Business Point of Contact (BPOC)
- Can read or modify share content
- Can request new shares via TDX tickets
- Can request to delete shares via TDX tickets
- Can request to modify share quotas via TDX tickets (additional storage is limited to 10% increase per share per week.)
- Can request share content restores via TDX tickets
Patriot Drive User
- Can read or modify share content
Access is limited to George Mason University departments and cannot be accessed from off-campus locations without a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection.

Getting This Service
To request a new Patriot Drive share, contact your department's Technical Point of Contact (TPOC), Group Admin, or Business Point of Contact (BPOC). If you do not know who the contact is for your department, ITS Support can assist you.
Access to a Patriot Drive share is granted by the department’s group administrator. Once granted access, Patriot Drive shares are accessible via the Finder and the P: drive on File Explorer.
Availability
Maintenance windows are Sundays from 4:30am – 7:30am.
