Mason provides access to its network and telephone service via data jacks that are located in the walls of rooms and offices in university buildings. Not all jacks are activated at all times.
Prior to activation, an ITS technician will evaluate the condition of the designated network and telephone jacks to ensure that they are in proper working order.
Getting This Service
Assessment of data jacks can be requested by contacting the Telecom Coordinator for your department. Telecom Coordinators may request this service by submitting a request.
The department Telecom Coordinator can also request activation of a specific jack by submitting a request.
There is no charge for jack activation and assessment services or for network access, but monthly charges apply to all telephone services. If the installation of a new jack is required, the installation charge will be billed to the requesting department.
Jack assessment and activation is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
