How do I add captions to my Kaltura course video?

You will need to request closed captioning or audio description to course videos. Requesting captions through the office of Assistive Technology Initiative (ATI) is an easy two-step automated process.

Step 1

Add the tag "needs captions" to your video in the tag area of the video's metadata (tags can be added anytime to new or preexisting content in your Kaltura My Media library).

Reminder: Tags can be added anytime to new or preexisting content in your Kaltura My Media library. (see How to Place Video in a Course Content Area).

Step 2

Complete the Request Services Form for closed captioning and audio description for your video from the Assistive Technology Initiative (ATI).

Notes: For bulk requests, please use ATI's Accessible Media Bulk Request Form (Excel). Submit the Bulk Request Form to: amp@gmu.edu at least 7 days prior to the date needed. Instructions and forms can be found at ATI's Request Accessible Media Services website.

For DIY captioning programs or language subtitles, please contact courses@gmu.edu for more information.
